Visibility and access to basic services are big issues facing the Indigenous LGBTI community, according to members of the LGBTI community in the Kimberly region. In a meeting with the Australian Human Rights Commissioner Tim Wilson and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner Mick Gooda, advocates highlighted the need to train teachers, doctors and other practitioners to handle LGBTI issues in their community. Commissioner Wilson is set to release a report at the end of the year, but some communities are already addressing the challenge themselves.
